Dogstar Foundation is a UK registered charity in Sri Lanka. The organisation works in partnership with a local and overseas veterinary team and the University of Peradeniya to provide access to neutering and free veterinary care for dogs and cats from low income communities.

The charity help animals in need on a daily basis for owners who are unable to afford veterinary treatment for their pets. They also provide assistance and feeding programmes for the local street dogs.

We met with Sam and Mark, the founders of Dogstar, in Budapest in October 2009, at the International Companion Animal Welfare Conference and were inspired by their work.  Here's what Sam had to say about our project:

"The Dogstar Team know how hard it can be to make a difference to animals in need overseas and have respect and admiration for the difference that IAPWA are making to dogs and cats in Borneo and their work with local groups in the community. Our shared dedication and commitment for animal welfare has already made a difference to hundreds of animals and we would like to congratulate IAPWA on their success so far."
